You do not need a grant picked out to start

You can hire help to find suitable opportunities, prepare a proposal, or improve a draft. Choose the work first; then compare writers who actually offer it.

No grant selected yet? Start with research or planning. Connor and DH Leonard publish services for that stage.

Already have an application? Compare proposal-writing support and ask what you must supply. A draft, budget and application deadline help a writer define the scope.

Have a draft that needs work? Ask for editing or a review—not automatically a full rewrite. DH Leonard describes rubric-based review; Seliger publishes a substantial editing minimum.

Working on a scientific or institutional proposal? Start with the relevant expertise in Eva Garland Consulting or McAllister & Quinn, then confirm the exact program.

Not sure which kind of help fits? Narrow the list by the work you need.

Compare the commitment, not just the headline price

A research fee, a complete proposal fee and an hourly editing rate buy different things. The numbers above are individual providers' published terms—not a national average or a promise that your project will cost the same.

Before choosing, ask for the total price for a defined scope: the work included, anything billed separately, revision limits, payment schedule and who handles submission. An hourly rate is only useful alongside an estimate of hours and any minimum commitment.

How we compare grant writers

GrantWriterMatch helps organizations choose paid grant help. For this comparison, we checked the linked providers' own service, fee and contact pages and brought the material differences together: what they offer, which projects they describe, fee conditions and what a buyer still needs to confirm.

The default list is alphabetical. “Consider for” explains our reading of a provider's published services; it is not a performance rating. The finder narrows those same records using your preferences. A listing does not establish availability or independently verify a writer's claimed results.

We do not sell the editorial order. Sponsored placements, when present, are labeled separately and do not change that order.

Provider information checked October 2, 2026. Sources sit beside the information they support.

Before you contact a grant writer

What should I send when asking for a quote?

Send a short description of your organization, the work you want done and any deadline. Include the application link or draft when you have one, plus the budget available for professional help—or say you need help defining the scope before setting a budget. Ask who will do the work and request a relevant work example or reference you can check.

Prepare your project brief

Do I need someone local?

Not necessarily. Seliger, for example, describes working electronically with clients across the United States. When local knowledge or in-person work matters, ask about that separately: an office location does not confirm on-site availability. Seliger's working arrangements.

Can a writer guarantee funding or work only if we win?

A service quote is not a funding decision. GrantWriterMatch does not promise an award or offer pay-only-if-you-win arrangements. The options here are for paid professional work; agree to the fee and deliverables before hiring.
